Summer school in Underwater Acoustics
The web site of the summer school in underwater acoustics (FORTH, 18-27 June 2008) is now open for applications. Online applications can be submitted from 1 November to 10 February 2008.

A mobile exhibition for DAMOCLES
As a DAMOCLES partner, the International Polar Foundation has developed a mobile exhibition to communicate to the wider public what DAMOCLES is doing and why. The exhibition will be available for use in connection with polar information events held in European countries during the International Polar Year 2007-08.

Summer School in Underwater Acoustics
The Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics (IACM) of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH) organizes a 10-day summer school in Underwater Acoustics at FORTH (Heraklion, Crete) from 18 to 27 June 2008, in the framework of the DAMOCLES project.

Animation: Impacts on the Arctic
The impacts of global warming will be particularly dramatic for the Arctic and Antarctica. In this animation, we will look more closely at the consequences for the Arctic.

Animation about the greenhouse effect
Without the natural greenhouse effect, the Earth would have had an average temperature around - 19 °C.

Animation about global warming
Human emissions of greenhouse gasses amplifies the natural greenhouse effect which increases global temperatures.

Arctic Ocean 2007
Join Ann Bancroft and Liv Arnesen as they embark on their Epic Journey to cross the Arctic Ocean on foot. They head out this time from Canada reaching for the North Pole. From there, they will ski toward the TARA, a ship boarded with scientists from DAMOCLES.

EducaPoles: Polar teaching tools
EducaPoles is the International Polar Foundation's educational site. It sets out to sensitize young people and the educational world to the importance of the Polar Regions and of climate change by proposing adapted teaching tools and projects.
