Progress: 85%
The database is available at http://damocles.met.no/data_management/database.html, software is available at http://damocles.met.no/data_management/software.html documentation of the database and user software is available at http://damocles.met.no/data_management/documentation.html and a quick reference to the file format required is provided at http://damocles.met.no/data_management/format.html.
Operation and maintenance of the database is performed at the level specified during the project planning, i.e. to support scientific use and not operational use. Within the next period the OpeNDAP software used for the system is likely to be changed to a THREDDS implementation also supporting OGC Web Coverage Service (in anticipation of INSPIRE requirements) in addition to the current OpeNDAP interface. The main uncertainty of this task is the performance and useability of the software libraries developed. these has yet not been extensively used by the DAMOCLES scientists.
Visualisation interfaces to some selected datasets are established through the Java application available at http://www.seaice.dk/test.N/ and GoogleEarth (see http://www.seaice.dk/damocles/Google.html).
A webserver with a DokuWiki service have been implemented at http://damocles.met.no/dokuwiki/ and documentation provided. The intention is that this service will be used actively by project participants and that it can be a valuable resource for help concerning data access. So far it is mainly the WP 6 project team that has been using this interface.
The main task of this task is currently to get the scientists of DAMOCLES to submit their data and process the data received in order to secure and publish them in accordance with the IPY data policy.
