Development of the database prototype outlined in the System Design Document (SDD) has started and parts of it are available. The main parts being developed are the database and metadatabase modules and interfaces. These are partly available at http://damocles.met.no/data_management/database.html but due to hardware insufficiencies new hardware has to be implemented before the "Metadata Search", "FTP Access" and "File Upload" features will be fully available. However, EUMETSAT Ocean and Sea Ice SAF products are currently available both through OpeNDAP and HTTP interfaces. Documentation of the database are being added to the website http://damocles.met.no/data_management/.
The development of software tools and libraries for handling the specified file formats is ongoing. The task is delayed due to the delayed SDD specification and due to the focus on ensuring compatibility with existing projects whee possible and not in conflict with established standards. A detailed requirements specification have been defined for the work.
Visualisation interfaces are established through the Java application available at http://www.seaice.dk/test.N/ and GoogleEarth (see http://www.seaice.dk/damocles/Google.html).
A webserver with a DokuWiki service have been implemented at http://damocles.met.no/dokuwiki/ and documentation provided. The intention is that this service will be used actively by project participants and that it can be a valuable resource for help concerning data access.
