2007 report
Progress: 99%
The results of the electronic User Questionnaire have been compiled into a User Requirements Document (URD) and a Data Flow Document (in progress). It is expected that the URD will have to be revisited later in the project when more is known on the new sensors. Given the limited resources of WP6 it is however, restricted how much that can be changed in design or features later. Based upon the URD and the project plan a System Design Document (SDD) have been compiled. In the design process, care has been taken to learn from the experience of previous projects like MERSEA and CORIOLIS and to establish contacts with the International Polar Year subcommittee on Data Management to ensure compatibility with IPY specifications to the degree possibleand without conflicts with existing standards. Most of the delay in the SDD development can be attributed to the requirement of learning from and interfacing existing and upcoming projects.
It is believed to be an advantage that both the URD and SDD are made public. Hopefully others will adopt the file format specification which already is very similar to the one used by MERSEA and CORIOLIS. Both documents have been put on:

Deviations from the project Workprogramme:
The progress of this task was a bit delayed compared to the project plan due to user response to the questionnaire and the wish to coordinate with existing projects. It is at this time not expected that this delay will affect the development of the DAMOCLES database at 18 months.
