2008 report
Progress: 50%
Over the entire period Tara was drifting through the central Arctic carrying out a.o. oceanographic measurements. According to their website they measure daily profiles from surface to bottom (-50 m) of temperature, salinity and pressure using a portable profiler (CTD Seabird SBE19). These profiles are transmitted weekly via Iridium so it might be available at the data base in WP6, but I dont know. Also they measure current profiles with a long-range (75 kHz) acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP).
A cruise has been carried out with Academic Fedorov from August 28, 2007 to September 25th, 2007 which conducted Arctic-wide hydrographic sections with a CTD (and an ADCP?) and deployed 5 Ice-tethered platforms.
A cruise with Polarstern has been prepared during the first 6 months and took place from 28 July to 7 October 2007. Hydrographic and tracer sections have been obtained and 3 array of ITPs and other buoys. The Russian clearance and the light ice cover enabled to extend the sections from the Siberian shelfs to the Canadian Basin.
