The following difficulties and logistic problems were met during the second year:

  • a partial cancellation of NABOS operations resulting in a lack of possibility to exchange the boundary moorings
  • a cancellation of the RV 'Merian' cruise due to technical problems delaying some Damocles operations
  • tomography array built but deployment postponed until February 2008
  • NP35 drifting near shore due to the lack of perennial ice
  • oceanographic instrumentation not deployed in the Russian EEZ
  • AITP developed but deployment delayed until April 2008
  • POPS and ITP vulnerability due to fast ice drift
  • CALIB (met buoys) and POPS vulnerability due to lack of buoyancy
